Buyers have a choice of three trim levels: Techno, Techno Esprit Alpine and Iconic Esprit Alpine. Standard kit includes a 10.4-inch central touchscreen running Renault’s Google-powered OpenR Link infotainment system with apps like Google Maps and Google Assistant built-in.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are also standard, along with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless charging pad, keyless entry, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, rear-view camera, parking sensors all around and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Upgrading to Techno Esprit Alpine specification (+£2,000) adds a set of 19-inch rims and sportier touches to the cabin like more body-hugging heated seats and French tricolore stitching. Plus, a heated steering wheel, hands-free powered tailgate, blind spot monitoring and Active Driver Assist which combines adaptive cruise control and lane centering.
Range-topping Iconic Esprit Alpine models (+£4,000 over base Techno) feature luxuries like a nine-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a 360-degree parking camera system, hands-free parking tech and ‘SolarBay’ opacifying panoramic sunroof.
Positioned between Captur and Austral, Symbioz expands the Renault offering at the entry level of the C-segment. Only 4.41m long, this new model rounds out the full-hybrid E-Tech family of Arkana (4.57m) and Austral (4.51m), alongside the E-Tech electric models, with Megane and Scenic electric.
The Symbioz combines a 1.6-litre four-pot engine, a six-speed gearbox, a 39kW electric motor and an 18kW starter generator to make 142bhp, plus a teeny 1.2kWh battery to help it achieve 60.1mpg. Its top speed sits at 106mph.
It's marginally shorter than the Qashqai and though it's not quite as wide, it weighs about the same. In the boot there’s 624 litres of boot space which is bigger than the Qashqai.
Symbioz benefits from the very best in Renault technology. It features the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google built-in, and the Solarbay tinted glass roof. The top of the range iconic esprit Alpine version boasts 24 new-generation driving aids that elevate safety and driving comfort to the highest levels.
Versatile as well as stylish, Symbioz boasts boot space of up 624 litres and a rear seat that slides by 16 cm, creating a flat floor when fully folded and enabling the interior to be easily adapted to customers’ requirements.
Weighing under 1,500 kg, Symbioz is also relatively light, which helps to enhance efficiency. Using the E-Tech full hybrid 145 powertrain it produces only 105g/km CO2.
